I love taking photos everywhere I go. With emphasis on 'go'. I bought a great camera that is still relatively pocket-sized because I want to take great pictures without having to lug something around my neck. This little tripod has been very useful.

First, it is small, and it fits in my pocket without feeling bulky (unlike my camera). Of course, there are several other mini tripods that are small. But this one is by far my favorite.

I love the flexibility of the three legs. It is not loose at all, so it doesn't slouch under the weight of my camera (which, along with the body, has 4 AA batteries, so it's fairly heavy). They can even twist around a branch and hold the camera up. Other mini tripods have hard legs that can extend an inch, but I find those relatively useless. If you need the camera to go down an inch or two, you can bend the legs so they aren't straight.

The knobs on the end are rubber and give good grip on uneven and rough surfaces. They are held on by being slightly stretched around the end of the legs, though, which means they can come off somewhat easily if they catch on something (not sure if this is a feature or not).

This mini tripod is also very well priced. I bought it solely to get free shipping on another or so item, thinking I might use it once or twice. But I have used it on many occasions.

So as expected this flipshareTV was easy to set up and worked right out of the box. What was not expected was how amazing it was to see my videos on TV for the first time. I now have a few Flip cams, and I find I show my friends and family my videos by (a) showing people videos on the small screen of my Flip, or (b) sometimes sending clips via email using the Flip software, or (c) most often uploading them directly to Facebook from the Flip software. (If you want to share the full-size file, btw, the best way is to export from the flip software and use [...].) Anyway, the bottom line is I usually share my videos in a way that you can only see them on a small screen. I've never connected my Flip to my TV. Not sure why. So I have to say I don't have a prior experience to compare FlipShareTV to, but it is AMAZING to see family videos on a flatscreen TV. They look crystal clear, the stream perfectly - better than on my computer - and look like real HD as promised. Even the videos streamed from the Internet instead of laptop looked great. Only negative to report is my laptop lost synch with the flipshareTV box when I moved the laptop to another room across the house. But that's not really surprising. Bottom line is I can't emphasize how much fun it is to see your kids and friends on TV.

I bought this combo for my Flip and it has proven to very useful. The flexible tripod works well on uneven surfaces because the legs can flex to adjust to the different levels. The other model included has an adjustable head so you can film at different angles, although I dont use that option too much. Not that I would recommend this for covert operations :) but, my daughters like to set the camera on the tripod in a room and leave it running to get candid shots of our family gatherings, or they just set up and film themselves having fun.

Just received this through Amazon the other day. Was weary about the potential USB problems, judging from the plethora of comments. I was prepared to buy a Dynex 7-port USB hub, but thankfully it wasn't needed. I must say...it wasn't the perfect fit at first, but it did fit without any type of struggle at all. It definitely was a snug fit on my Acer netbook, but a secure fit. You don't have to put much force into it, but I could see why there might be issues with some computers. It WILL fit though, might have to test it out for a few seconds.

As for the actual camera haha, it works like a charm...so easy to use and the interface is well done. The pre-loaded FlipShare software is very intuitive and user-friendly. No CD required as it's already in the unit once connected to your computer. Still have to test it out in low-light situations and overall battery life, but will post a follow-up on this soon (will use this for recording a CD release band gig next week).

Overall, quite happy with this product and reliable shipping once again. Bought the little Flip tripod as well. Once again, will post a follow-up with more use soon.

I just got this from bestbuy (they gave me 50% off b/c the box had been opened but the camcorder never used - sick deal).

I was looking at all the pocket HD camcorders, and had decided the Kodak Zi8 was too expensive. Thank god I found this deal, because this thing is worth every damn penny, even paying the full retail price.

I'm in Colorado skiing right now, and took the Zi8 up on the mountain. I used picture mode, as well as the 720p 60fps (sport) mode for action ski videos. I haven't gotten home yet to upload to my computer, but the pictures and videos look pristine on the camcorder itself (which has a great quality and size screen). The 720p 60fps HD video didn't miss a thing. Flawlessly smooth with video quality so high that I can't even imagine what the 1080p would look like. I was holding it filming as I skied through dense trees, so it handled both fast action motion and low-light conditions. Basically, both the picture and video quality was great on the mountain, even when the visability and lighting was bad. I almost forgot, even the digital zoom was way better than I'd expect. This thing just blew me away.

I'll break down why this thing is by far the most superior pocket HD camcorder:
1. Quality. nothing can touch this thing in that department, unless you go up to bigger HD camcorders obviously.
2. Takes Pictures. I don't have a digital camera, so I wanted a pocket HD camcorder that takes good quality stills. The ever-so-popular Flip doesn't do stills, and the other ones that do don't do them well from what I hear.
3. Build/Design. Well constructed, sleek, very easy to use, beautiful large screen for reviewing your stills and videos. Having physical buttons instead of "touch" buttons is often overlooked. You always know what you're pressing, and you don't ever accidentally mess up your videos, because you don't have to worry about those annoying "touch" buttons.
4. accessories. comes with ALL the cords and TV cables you'd need (for HD and SD TVs), as well as a nice leather wrist-strap, which I loved b/c it made sure I didn't drop it into the snow.

Only criticisms (minor as they are):
1. a little big, but not bad. Kind of like the size of a Blackberry, maybe a tad bigger. Can't be greedy though, this thing films 1080p full HD, and 60fps 720p HD. It's tiny when you consider that fact.
2. software. CORRECTION: I initially said the Arcsoft MediaImpression software didn't run well, but it works fine. It's quite adequate, and from the reviews of other comparable devices, it seems superior.
3. price. It's pricey, but man is it worth it. Especially when the Flip is similarly priced.


This is my favorite gadget in awhile. The pros WAAAAY outweigh the cons (which are nearly non-existent). If you're looking for an HD pocket camcorder and want media and build quality, look no further. This is for you.

The controls are extremely easy to use and the VADO weighs a mere 3.5 ounce making the VADO the lightest pocket cam. The Li-On battery comes with a half charge, the directions recommend charging the battery 4 hours for a complete charge. You can get 2 hours of recording time after a full charge. The camcorder provides 2GB's of storage. The software is built into the camcorder eliminating the need to download software. Even though it's a standard definition recorder, the picture quality is astoundingly crisp and clear and so is the sound quality! Uploading to YouTube, Photo Bucket and sending videos in an Email is a snap! This is truly one of the very few pocket cams that are ready to use right out of the box!

I've recorded in bright daylight, low light and night light(highway driving) all footage recorded crisp and clear!

Just a few quick things...

Outside in sunlight, or in a brightly lit room, the vid quality is sweeeeeeeeeeet... i love it... in lowlight ocnditions, bleh... that's no big deal though, pretty much what I expected.

Durability... NICE... I've accidentally dropped this thing a couple times, including two weeks ago, I was spinning it on it's lanyard and it flew and took a nice crack on the floor, battery cover popped off, batteries flew over the flow and everything, scared the crap outta me, but put it back together and good to go!

Sound quality is so-so... I'd hoped for something a bit better, some stereo action, but nope...

Quick tip for XBox 360 users and others... since it records in H264, the .mov extension can just be renamed/changed to .mp4 extension and it's good to go... will play over your 360 or other devices, no transcoding required!

The review I wrote below is one I posted for the same device in a single pack, this is a neat idea having two.
I received the Flip UltraHD as a gift recently, so I will share what I have learned so far. It has 2 hours of recording time, I have not maxed out the time between downloading it to the computer. Downloading is easy, just pop the built in plug into a USB slot and you are good to go, no cord to look for. It also has a HDMI output so you can hook it up to a high definition TV. Now having said that, the camera only has a 2x zoom, and using the zoom at all does deteriorate the picture. For me, I use the camera for filming family around the house, but if I filmed my sons football game, I would use a camera with a real zoom. This Flip is for the close up every day life you want to preserve. It has a decent size screen built in, larger than the screen on the first Flip which my friend has, and the size of the unit is large. In my case, the picture did not look that different. If I was buying one for myself, I would take a look to see if the first Flip is cheaper, abut I hear it uses the battery faster. The one I have has a rechargable battery, but you can also pop in AA batteries if you prefer. My digital still camera uses those special disposable camera batteries, and they are a rip-off at and don't seem to last but a few weeks. But it is still small enough to fit in my back pocket. Using the device is pretty intuitive, not an overload of controls and buttons, and any kid could operate it. For the size and the price, I think it is a pretty good gadget. But I can imagine in two years what they will have.

I had read all these previous reviews and decided to purchase and try. A few people were complaining that theirs didn't fit the camera. I decided I would purchase the cords and if they didn't fit I would send them back. They all work fine. I have two flips the regular flip and now a HD flip. The cords work with both. You get 3 cords because they are different sizes. This is great! I use the longer cord with my desktop computer that I originally had to plug my camera into the tower part of my coputer and it would have to hang by the arm of the camera while charging or transfering video. I knew someday I would bump it or something and possiable break the arm on the camera. This swing arm on the flip works very well with my laptop, just not my desktop. Okay back to the cord, if I only had one short size I would have had it still hanging due to where my tower to my computer is. I love having the 3 cords to fit whatever need I have. It is old that people complain they only need one, they knew there were three in the box when purchasing and then they still complain because they got what they paid for, who would have figured that would ever happen.
Great product, I would highly recommend.

Bought this for my wife who wanted a quick simple video cam - she loves it.

I did a pretty good amount of research on several makes/models before selecting this one and feel I made a great decision. The unit is very well constructed, easy to use and delivers nice clear quality (hobby level) videos. Overall - very satisfied.

As for the negatives there are no real problems to point out, but I would like to have the ability to swap out an SD or flash card - sadly this unit does NOT include that feature. I also think some sort of user-replaceable filter over the lens would have been nice, especially since the built-in filter/lens protrudes slightly. I think it could be vulnerable to case scratches (eventually) or easily damaged if placed lens down. Operationally videos in dim conditions produced more grainy images, but are certainly tolerable.

I was little disappointed not to get an actual CD with the software, but it can be downloaded very easily (except for those on dial-up connections). The software is simple, straightforward and works just fine on MAC OS (Snow Leopard) running on Mini.

Overall, I think it's a cool little video camera, it's affordable, convenient and very easy to use. Video quality is very good for most consumer purposes (you obviously can't put this up against 00 camera). It does what is says, and does it well.
